Press Release about a Resolution Against Ranked Choice Voting

Press Release

Ranked Choice Voting is Not the Answer for Michigan

Resolution Opposes Any Use of RCV in Michigan

Farmington Hills, MI; [Immediate Release]: The 11th Congressional District Republican Committee unanimously passed a resolution opposing the adoption of Ranked-Choice Voting in any electoral process in Michigan.

“Our members were unanimous in opposition to installing a complex voting tool, that further limits minority voting access and undermines voter confidence,” said 11th District Chair Debra Oestreich.  “We do not need to make our existing voting system more difficult to use or understand. All leaders in Michigan should oppose the ballot initiative to add ranked choice voting to our 2026 election.  Our Resolution calls on the legislature to act.”

The Resolution approved says, in part:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Eleventh Congressional District Committee of the Michigan Republican Party opposes the adoption of Ranked-Choice Voting in any electoral process in Michigan elections; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Eleventh Congressional District Republican Committee urges elected officials and policymakers to uphold the electoral process consistent with the current voting processes, which are simple, transparent, ensure clarity, fairness, and accessibility for all voters….
