Pontiac Resident Named to Yale Leadership Program
14th District Executive Committee Member Gina Barr Part of Elite Group
Pontiac, MI, May 26, 2015 —Gina Alicia Barr, the eldest of Pontiac’s Apostle Keith and Isabelle Barr’s seven children, has been selected to attend Yale University’s prestigious Women’s Campaign School to held this summer at the Yale Law School..
Barr currently serves as a Michigan GOP State Committeewoman for the 14th Congressional District. She serves there on the Issues Committee, and also serves on the 14th District’s Executive Committee.
“Everyone who meets Gina knows she has the personality and skills of a natural leader,” said Janine Kateff, chairwoman of the 14th Congressional District Republicans.
“Her selection to this elite Yale program surely means that her skills and political potential are being recognized there, too.”
Yale promotes its program as a “non-partisan, non-issue Campaign School.” Elected officials and women with promising political careers from all over the world apply to this school. One well known graduate is Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y, who replaced Hillary Clinton in the U.S. Senate. This year the Women's Campaign School celebrates its 20-year anniversary.
In 2014, Barr was hired to work in the Michigan GOP office in Detroit. Barr works there to promote urban outreach in cities like Detroit and Pontiac.
“The only way to reach voters in heavy Democratic areas is to not ‘stand on a soap box’ and preach conservatism, but to go out and personally share the benefits of conservative programs with people in the community,” Barr said.
