Flint Water Crisis Addressed in Team Effort by 14th District GOP

Water Collection Joint Effort with West Bloomfield Township Clerk

 

 

 

 

West Bloomfield, MI-January 20, 2016:  Today the 14th District Congressional Republican Committee launched a water collection program to help citizens in Flint, MI.  “Our fellow citizens in Flint deserve clean and plentiful water,” said Janine Kateff, Chairwoman of the 14th District.  “To maximize and speed our efforts to help, we decided to work with the office of West Bloomfield Township Clerk Cathy Shaughnessy to collect bottled water.   I know that citizens in the 14th District agree that this situation must be addressed and addressed now. By combining efforts, we will deliver more needed water and do it faster.”

The Township of West Bloomfield Clerk’ Office will accept donations of bottled water beginning on Friday, January 25 and continuing through Friday, February 12, 2016.  Donations may be dropped off at the Clerk’s Office at 4550 Walnut Lake Road, West Bloomfield, MI 48323.  Donations will be accepted between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. during that period and questions may be addressed to the Clerk’s staff at 248-451-4848.  Donors do not need to be a resident of West Bloomfield.   Donations will be transported to the emergency teams in Flint through transportation donated by Art Van Furniture.

“I am pleased to organize this water collection effort to help our neighbors in Flint,” said Cathy Shaughnessy, West Bloomfield Township Clerk. “At times like this we all need to work together.”

For those interested in making a financial donation, please send a check payable to “14th District GOP” and mail to 14th CD Treasurer Chris Konja, 6575 Stonebridge E., West Bloomfield, MI. 48324. Please note on the check that it is a donation for “Flint Water”.  All amounts donated will be used to purchase bottled water for distribution in Flint.
