A Message from the Chairwoman
Dear 14th District Executive Committee Members, and fellow Republicans;
Hi ya’ll from the liberal oasis of Austin, Texas. Yes it is HOT in Texas, but loving the time with our daughter!
Check out this real yard sign I found here, it explains where the left is. Can’t make this stuff up.
This is a true liberal’s worldview!

We are actively seeking sponsors for the event! Anyone who might be interested in being a sponsor or who knows someone who might be interested, please contact me asap. We want this event to be fun and to generate some cash so we can support Republican candidates
Note that we have another excellent Republican candidate for U.S. Senate! See the article below. We really need to get the best Republican candidate through our primary election process to DEFEAT Debbie Stabenow.
Stabenow is so far-Left, she has a 100% voter rating from the abortion extremist group NARAL, a 95.77% "A" voter rating from the ultra-liberal group, Progressive Punch, and only an 8% "F" rating from the National Rifle Association.
We really deserve better than that.
Let’s make 2018 the year we get a Republican Senator elected in Michigan!
On another campaign front, just days ago Senator Patrick Colbeck (R - District 7) became the first major Republican candidate to officially declare their campaign to be our next Governor. Will there be more candidates? Probably, but right now he is the first with a serious shot of being elected. Go Patrick!
Lastly we have our friend Marc Corcoran! He is running in the August 2017 (yes, right now) in a special election to fill the Michigan House District 1 open spot. Marc is working NOW to win the August primary. If he wins in the primary, he will be on the November ballot this year. Marc is a lifelong conservative who is passionate about helping “the working man”. Marc decided to run for the vacated seat when it was vacated via the resignation of Democrat Brian Banks. Marc would love your support. Call him, encourage him and support him (734 777 8518)

John James Announces Run for U.S. Senate
There was plenty of media “buzz” about another Republican candidate to replace Debbie Stabenow in 2018. We do not mean Kid Rock, either!
Detroit businessman and former Army Captain John James has thrown his considerable experience into this Senate race.
James joins Lena Epstein, Trump Co-Chair in Michigan, and Robert Young, former Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice, as announced candidates. We are blessed with a strong field of candidates any of which can defeat the failed Stabenow experience. Learn more about James here: https://youtu.be/REE1fgDgOPc
District Executive Committeeman Profile: Ken Chadwell
Ken Chadwell calls himself a Reagan-Pence Republican.
“I’m a Christian first, a conservative second and a Republican third,” he said.
He said he first realized he was a Republican in the 1980s when Iran released the hostages it had seized in response to and fear of Ronald Reagan after he was elected President.
Chadwell’s sentiments intensified as he watched while “Reagan, Margaret Thatcher and Pope John Paul II battled, and ultimately dismantled, the Soviet Union while many Democrats, Ted Kennedy in particular, were apologists for the evil empire.”
A third critical factor for Chadwell’s political outlook came as “Kennedy, Joe Biden and RINO Arlen Specter demonstrated how much they love abortion as they destroyed Robert Bork's Supreme Court nomination” in the U.S. Senate.
Chadwell, 55, of Grosse Pointe Park, has practiced law for about 30 years mostly in Federal Court. His wife is a family doctor and they have three children, two of whom are in college.
A graduate of Cedarville College in Ohio and then Wayne State University Law School, Chadwell was a founding member of the Michigan Chapter of the Federalist Society in 1991 and, ultimately, served as its president in 1999.
“The Federalist Society works to promote the rule of law and an originalist interpretation of the Constitution through scholarship, debate and the appointment of conservative judges to the courts,” Chadwell said.
“I have also been heavily involved with Right to Life of Michigan for the past 20 years on various boards and committees.”
Chadwell said he was first elected a precinct delegate about 10 years ago. He has been a delegate many times to county and state GOP conventions and served most recently as chairman of the Eastside Republican Club from 2014 to 2016.
“Jobs 1 and 2 for the 14th District are holding the Michigan Governor's mansion and turning (U.S. Senator) Debbie Stabenow's seat red,” Chadwell said.
Michigan Trump Republicans Host “One Year Count Down” Event
Michigan Trump Republicans was formed to combat the daily “hammering” that President Trump receives from the mainstream media (a/k/a FAKE NEWS), from the Democratic “resistance” movement, and even from some Republicans.
Volunteers at MTR work directly with the White House Office of Political Affairs to hear the “inside White House story”. Updates are received from senior White House staffers like Kellyanne Conway, the Director of the OMB and others. These high ranking staffers know that Trump needs our support NOW to combat the bashing.
MTR states it has some simple goals:.
-
Arm GOP activists with the truth and the facts directly from the White House.
-
Protect President Trump for the 2020 election here in Michigan.
-
Keep the MAGA energy alive in Michigan!
To help get those few things done, MTR announced a statewide Michigan Trump Republicans Tour! As of the date of this newsletter the scheduled stops, which will be from 6 to 7 p.m. at each location, are:
-
August 7: Muskegon (Fricano’s on the Lake)
-
August 8: White Lake (Dave and Amys)
-
August 14: Shelby Township (Palazzo Grande)
-
August 21: Hesperia (Yoberosa)
-
September 11: Saginaw (Gs Pizza)
-
October 2: Traverse City (MI Grille)
For details, check the MTR website http://www.michigantrumprepublicans.com/
The August 7 date is also labeled the MTR "One Year Count Down” event. This date is exactly one year to the Michigan primary in 2018. The races are all on! The Muskegon event will be HUGE with the following speakers/candidates confirmed at this time:
-
Lena Epstein, Candidate for U.S. Senate
-
Senator Patrick Colbeck (R - District 7), Candidate for Governor
-
Representative Tom Leonard (R - District 93), Speaker of the House
-
Stan Grot, Chair of the 10th District Republican Committee, Shelby Township Clerk, and (rumored to be) Candidate for Secretary of State
-
Representative Jon Bumstead (R - District 100) and Candidate for Michigan Senate (District 34)
That speaker line up, combined with the normal MTR speakers and a few to be confirmed "surprises" means that this will be an exciting night for Republicans. An awesome line up of Republican candidates will be on full display!
Democrat Rep. Brenda Lawrence “Votes for Us” in Washington
Your Democratic 14th Congressional District U.S. Representative Brenda Lawrence has been busy in Washington, D.C. Here is a recap of several of her recent and shocking votes. Her role in supporting the Democrat Party line and not Michigan values can be seen very clearly here. Her votes often are like this: think of a logical idea/opinion and then vote the opposite way. After considering her positions, please feel free to call her office at 202-225-5802:
-
HB 1628 passed 217 to 213 with Lawrence voting AGAINST. This law would change federal health insurance regulations, modify Medicaid coverage and alter several taxes/fees. This is considered a partial repeal (though no one is quite sure who considers it a repeal) of Obamacare.
-
HB 1180 passed 229 to 197 with Lawrence voting AGAINST. This law allows private sector employers to offer employees paid time off (PTO) instead of cash for overtime worked. The PTO would be at the rate of one-and-a-half hours per every hour of worked overtime. Guess Lawrence knows better than us mere citizens as to which is more valuable in each worker’s situation.
-
HB 115 passed 271 to 143 with Lawrence voting AGAINST. This law would make the killing or attempted killing of a police officer, firefighter or first responder an “aggravating factor” when determining the final sentence in federal courts. If would increase the likelihood that someone convicted of such a crime would receive the death penalty.
-
HB 1039 passed 229 to 177 with Lawrence voting AGAINST. This allows probation officers to make arrests without a warrant IF there is probable cause that the person assaulted or obstructed a probation officer. Lawrence really does not like law enforcement officers!
-
HB 953 passed 256 to 165 with Lawrence voting AGAINST. This law prohibits the EPA from requiring a permit for discharging a pesticide IF that discharge is already approved under the federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act. Lawrence dislikes our police, but likes federal bureaucrats such as the EPA.
-
HB 467 passed 419 to zero with Lawrence voting FOR (please write this down). This law requires that each Veterans’ Affairs Administration medical facility certify annually that it is in compliance with rules regarding scheduling appointments for veterans. If not in compliance, VA officials would not receive their bonuses. How about no bonus if healthcare is not delivered, too?
-
HB 2579 passed 267 to 144 with Lawrence voting AGAINST. This would allow the Obamacare insurance premium credit to be used to pay for COBRA continuation of health insurance coverage. Thought the Dems were compassionate?
-
HB 2581 passed 238 to 184 with Lawrence voting AGAINST. This law requires that the Obamacare tax credit (the so called “premium assistance subsidy”) can only be paid after a recipient is determined to be a citizen or legal resident. Why would American taxpayers directly give money to non-citizens? Oh, never mind as it is not worth asking a Democrat to explain.
